Technical Sheet – Tequendama 2014

Grapes

  • 100% Merlot from Finca Vidal, located in Tupungato, Mendoza, at 1050 meters above sea level.
  • Grapes selected from a section of a pergola-trained vineyard over 60 years old. Cluster thinning was performed to reduce yield and increase concentration.
  • Hand-harvested in 15 kg boxes during the last week of March 2014. Ripening was delayed due to lower-than-average temperatures, but harvest conditions were ideal—no rain and stable temperatures.

Vinification

  • Fermented with 15% whole cluster.
  • Aged in French oak barrels (50% new) for 18 months.
  • Total production: 1400 bottles

Tasting Notes

  • Bright ruby color.
  • Intense and complex nose with aromas of ripe fruits. The whole cluster fermentation adds distinctive aromas reminiscent of organic wines.
  • On the palate, flavors of spices and ripe red and black fruits stand out. Balanced and intense tannins and acidity, enhanced by cooler-than-average nights, provide elegance and roundness.

Recommendations

  • Recommended serving temperature: 14–18°C (58–65°F)
  • Decant at least one hour before serving
  • We recommend using a two-prong cork puller
