years of history

How it all began

It all began at the family dinner on New Year’s Eve 2010, when I met Giuseppe Franceschini. As we talked, I shared my curiosity about the old vineyard at our family’s Finca Vidal and the potential it held for winemaking. Intrigued, we agreed to visit the vineyard just two days later, on January 2nd. That very day, we selected six rows to begin the project. I then set two conditions: First, we would push both the vineyard and the winemaking process to their absolute best. And second, if the result was an ordinary wine, we’d enjoy it at a barbecue with friends—but if it was an exceptional wine… we’d still drink it at a barbecue with friends

The Legend Behind Tequendama

Long before the arrival of the Spanish, the Muisca people inhabited the Bogotá savannah and believed in the myth of a great universal flood. According to legend, the gods, angered by the actions of the tribe, decided to flood the entire savannah. In desperation, the survivors called upon their principal deity, Bochica. Responding to their plea, Bochica struck the rocks with his magical staff, creating the Bogotá River and the awe inspiring 157 meter high Tequendama Falls.
The name “Tequendama” translates to “the place where the waters pass” or “an open door” meanings that speak to transformation, both physical and spiritual. For us, Tequendama.
