Technical Sheet – Tequendama 2013

Grapes

  • 100% Merlot, selected from a pergola-trained vineyard over 60 years old, located in Finca Vidal, Tupungato, Mendoza, at 1050 meters above sea level.
  • Yield was reduced through cluster thinning to increase concentration.
  • Hand-harvested in 15 kg boxes during the last week of March 2013.
  • Despite adverse spring conditions (frost in November and rain in December), the summer was dry with good thermal amplitude, favoring flavor and aroma concentration.

Vinification

  • Fermented with 25% whole cluster. Aged in new French oak barrels for 18 months.
  • Total production: 1500 bottles

Tasting Notes

  • Bright ruby color.
  • Intense, complex nose with cherry and strawberry jam aromas. The use of whole clusters adds spicy notes.
  • On the palate, ripe red fruit flavors stand out. Balanced tannins and acidity provide roundness. The oak complements the fruit without overpowering it.

Recommendations

  • Recommended serving temperature: 14–18°C (58–65°F)
  • Decant at least one hour before serving
  • We recommend using a two-prong cork puller
