Technical Sheet – Tequendama 2011
Grapes
- 100% Merlot from a pergola-trained vineyard over 60 years old, located in Finca Vidal, Tupungato, Mendoza, at 1050 meters above sea level.
- Severe frosts during flowering in November and December 2010 reduced the vineyard’s yield to only 10% of its normal capacity. This natural thinning resulted in a remarkable concentration of flavor and aroma in the limited fruit harvested.
- Hand-harvested in 15 kg boxes during the third week of March 2011.
Vinification
- Fermented in small vessels and aged in new French oak barrels for 18 months.
- Total production: 1000 bottles
- Alcohol content: 15%
Tasting Notes
- Deep ruby color.
- Intense and complex nose with aromas of cherry and strawberry jam.
- On the palate, it is more intense than a typical Merlot, showcasing ripe red and black fruits, pepper, and herbs. Balanced tannins deliver a long, round, and very elegant finish. Due to its concentration, the 2011 vintage expresses the terroir’s quality in a unique way.
